Excellent idea!

Great way to make a water feature. I know sometimes people don't have the space to build a garden pond, this is a sure way for everyone to enjoy water gardening.

Great blog, tips and ideas.

Sincerely,

I'm particularly touched to see the little touches whereby the home-making keeps pace with the house-making: The luscious tomatoes and the insulated pipes. The family pictures juxtaposed with the not-quite-finished-stairs. The big-muscle tools and the purple coneflowers. Love and art, strenth and sense of purpose suffuse this house and these lives.

Hi Lisa and Mark - glad to hear things are progressing so well - it sure puts our patio and pool project in perspective !

It was nice seeing pictures of my fledglings doing so well in the garden - and what a super tomato crop you have coming in...glad to hear you are relaxing into the gardening Lisa...it should not be a stressful experience...

We are slowly getting sorted out here - it's more a matter of shelves and furniture for us though....The Farmhouse Inn is coming together nicely - just waiting for the actual bar to arrive - we found some old chairs and tables at an antique store last week that give it a really old fashioned English pub feeling...will get some new photos on the website soon.

Well keep up the good work - hopefully we will be able to make it to your 'finished' party in a couple of years...

take care and be good to each other

Great work & website!

Have you installed the IPE yet? If so, any pics.
What size IPE boards did you use (or plan to use)?
Are the joists pressure treated? They look like it.

Thanks - Keep up the fine work. Joel

I'd say your projects are going according to the Project Planner Estimator: "To estimate the length of time a project will take, double the number and go to the next time increment, e.g., if you think it will take 1 hour, it will take 2 days, etc., ad nauseum."

Daunting but true, at least in my experience!

Love,
Aunt Jeany

The porch looks so BIG! Sounds like you've been working very hard on the house, but it will pay off later. Can't wait to see all that you've done :)

I continue to be amazed at all you two have tackled, seemingly fearlessly AND tirelessly. I'm so glad you took time to go to cookouts and hear music over the holiday weekend, and I'm delighted that you've been able to hire Seth and John to help do the porch. How good it is of Mark's stepmom to help.

Watching the progress of this house is very much like watching the development of an embryo by sonogram. I'm falling in love with what you are creating together, truly an act of material magic.

Love always,
Aunt Jeany

Wow, it is just magical to see an empty space turn into a kitchen that would make Julia Childs salivate. I am concerned, though, about such frippery as all that leveling -- MY cabinets aren't level. I walk into my kitchen each morning and it's like seeing a Far Side cartoon, starts my day with a laugh.

Ah well, you young people were bound to make some mistakes in judgment, if not in carpentry or websitery.

I'll lay you odds, though, that with all those gorgeous shots of the new bath lighting, that absolutely enviable hood and cooktop, the very glam countertop, ad infinitum, that you'll get the most comments on pic #11 :-) I, of course, am way too evolved for that...

Much love, much admiration, LOTS of envy,
Aunt Jeany

Cool house! Looking forward to one day seeing you two in person. Trisha and I are in the process of looking for a 'fixer upper' like yours, but Galveston has a very limited market in desirable neighborhoods.

Keep up the good work!

Ron
